TITBITS OF POLITICAL HISTORY OF SIERRA LEONE: The Era of HC Bankole Bright 1919-1958.

TITBITS OF POLITICAL HISTORY OF SIERRA LEONE: The Era of HC Bankole Bright 1919-1958. Did he insight/instigate the National strike in 1955? Was he responsible for the imprisonment of ITA Wallace-Johnson? Was the failure of his Leadership of his conservative political Party - The National Council for The Colonies and its rivalry with Wallace-Johnson's Radical Youth League a clash of status and ideology?
I was privilege to be one of the choristers at his funeral at Gibraltar Church Kissy Street: the procession marched east; round the Clock Tower area, turned right into Goderich Street, up to the Circular Road junction, turned left into Circular Road through to The Circular Road Cemetery where he was laid to rest at the family vault.

Comments of the Author, Akintola Wyse:

"Dr. Bankole-Bright's failure is seen as emblematic of the disappointed hopes of the Krio as a political group in Sierra Leone. An underlying theme of the book is the misrepresentation of the Krio people in Sierra Leone historiography."
