The renowned novelist, poet, and author of the classic novel, ‘Things Fall Apart‘ has passed on.
He died a the age of 82 last night at a hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A.
Premium Times reports that Professor Achebe had been suffering from an undisclosed ailment for some time.
He was the author of some highly influential books including Arrow of God, No Longer at Ease, Anthills of the Savannah, and A man of the People and received several international awards for his works. His latest book, ‘There Was a Country‘, was an autobiography on his experiences and views of the civil war.
Until his death, he was the David and Mariana Fisher Professor of Literature at Brown University.

{African papers were reporting his death following an illness and hospital stay in Boston this morning, and both his agent and his publisher later confirmed the news to the Guardian.

Simon Winder, publishing director at Penguin, called him an "utterly remarkable man".

"Chinua Achebe is the greatest of African writers and we are all desolate to hear of his death," he said.
In a statement, Achebe's family requested privacy, and paid tribute to "one of the great literary voices of all time. He was also a beloved husband, father, uncle and grandfather, whose wisdom and courage are an inspiration to all who knew him."}


The Exit of An African Icon- He has left a great legecy for many generations to come:
